Other Group Officers
The remainder of the Group Officers are listed on the “Group Page” of the website together with some of our Regional Officers.
Most of the appointments are of officers who were in post last year.
Our Treasurer - Ben McDonald, Charity Steward - Paul Baines, Craft Mentor - Danny Wilson, Webmaster - Dave Sampson, Bowls Representative - George Hudson, Golf & Clay Pigeon Shooting Representative - Don Eaton and Tithebarn Representative - Herbie Fennings have all agreed to work with me in the new Group.
I have been delighted to be able to appoint some new Officers apart from the Vice Chairman and Secretary.
As a result of the resignation of Peter Roberts as Local Care Officer, the Provincial Grand Master has confirmed the appointment of Dave Atkinson to replace him. My thanks go to Peter for all his good work over many years and I wish him a happy retirement.
The Grand Superintendent has announced a new mentoring scheme for the Royal Arch and Wyn Jones of the Lodge of Harmony has kindly accepted my invitation for him to become our Royal Arch Mentor. This is a challenging position and I wish Wyn all the best and I know he will encourage Craft Masons to join a Chapter as well as support those who have already taken that step.
As a result of the restructuring of the communications within the Group and the greater dependence on electronic communications I have appointed Dave Sampson to be Webmaster and Publicity Officer. This is a very demanding position and I am hoping we will be able to increase our profile both on the internet and in the national and provincial publications. I am considering asking each Lodge and Chapter to appoint a member who will be responsible for communicating details of and information about important matters - celebrations etc. - to Dave to enable him to make the necessary publicity arrangements.
I would also like to thank Hughie O’Neill for all the hard work he put in as the previous Group Publicity Officer prior to the review of Group Officers.
Ken McQueen was appointed Group Membership Officer, to succeed Dave Atkinson but, sadly, has since passed to higher service. He has been succeeded by John Evans of Trinity Lodge 3257. It will be his job to filter any enquiries about freemasonry to Lodges in the group and hopefully guide interested parties in the right direction.
I thank all those who have agreed to work with me and the Vice Chairman and I am looking forward to working with you all and hopefully building on the wonderful legacy left to us by our former Chairman, Syd Ford.
